HAMEX – No Sleep
Restlessness is central to HAMEX’s “No Sleep”, one of the five tracks on the electronic music project MORPH. The song is framed around the recurring thoughts that keep a person awake, particularly when memory and desire make it difficult to settle into the present.
The project’s broader concept concerns emotions that survive the circumstances that produced them. Across its track sequence, MORPH moves from missing someone to physical memory, sleeplessness and the distance that can persist even when two people are close.
HAMEX’s sound draws on Afro house, Afro tech and Afro chill, alongside a wider electronic pop identity. He spent years producing music for other artists before building his own profile, a background that helps explain the attention given to the overall construction of his releases.
His breakthrough as a recording artist came with “Hey Mama”, which passed four million Spotify streams and inspired more than 31,000 TikTok videos. MORPH offers a different point of entry into his catalogue, using a connected set of emotional themes rather than relying on one standalone song to establish its identity.
