HAMEX – Somebody Else’s

Mattmich

continues the emotional themes explored across MORPH with “Somebody Else’s”, a title that suggests the complicated territory of attachment, distance and changing relationships. The track belongs to the same five-song project that follows emotions from initial absence into the less obvious ways memories continue to influence everyday life.

MORPH is organised around the idea that feelings can remain after the experiences that created them have ended. Rather than treating each song as a completely separate statement, the project connects its subjects through the persistence of memory and the difficulty of moving forward.

HAMEX works across electronic pop, Afro house, Afro tech and Afro chill, with a catalogue that includes different production identities for different moods. His background as a producer informs that approach, placing sound design and the construction of a track at the centre of his work.

The project follows the wider reach of “Hey Mama”, which gained millions of Spotify streams and circulated widely through TikTok videos. This release sits within a more reflective collection, extending HAMEX’s work beyond the dance-oriented records that first introduced him to a broader audience.
