HAMEX – I Miss You

Mattmich

explores the experience of absence on “I Miss You”, a track from the project MORPH. The release forms part of a five-track collection built around the way emotions remain after a relationship or important experience has changed.

HAMEX describes the project as an exploration of feelings that outlast the moments that first created them. On this opening track, the central idea is absence, with the memory of another person continuing to occupy emotional space even when that person is no longer present.

The producer’s wider musical identity sits in borderless electronic pop, drawing on Afro house, Afro tech and Afro chill. Before stepping forward as an artist, HAMEX spent years producing records for other performers, eventually bringing that production background into a personal catalogue.

One of the records associated with that transition is “Hey Mama”, which passed four million Spotify streams and reached chart positions in several African markets. MORPH takes a more inward-looking direction, giving the project a clear emotional thread for listeners interested in the relationship between electronic production and intimate subject matter.
