Wande Coal – DEARLY Ft. Qing Madi

DEARLY moves on a lush, tender production that gives both voices enough room to actually be heard rather than competing for space, and the result is a back and forth between Wande Coal and Qing Madi that feels less like a feature and more like a proper conversation between two people who both have something real to say. The whole record carries a warmth that is hard to manufacture and easy to feel, the kind of love song that does not need any extra drama to make its point.

Wande Coal has been a consistent and respected presence in Nigerian music for well over a decade and records like this one are a reminder of why that longevity is entirely deserved rather than accidental. Qing Madi on the other hand is one of the most exciting young voices to emerge from Nigeria in recent years and her presence here confirms that she belongs in exactly this kind of company.

This pairing just works in the way that the best collaborations do, where you finish the song and immediately wonder why it took this long for these two to be on the same record together.
