Jah Mason – Nah Follow Ft. Derrick Sound
Jamaican reggae artist Jah Mason joins Derrick Sound on “Nah Follow”, a release connected to the roots-oriented reggae and sound-system culture that has remained important to his career. Jah Mason, born Andre Johnson, emerged from Jamaica’s reggae scene with a style associated with conscious lyrics and Rastafari themes.
His catalogue includes songs addressing social conditions, spiritual conviction and the everyday experiences of people living under pressure. Those subjects have helped place him among the reggae performers whose work connects contemporary recordings with the genre’s longstanding tradition of social commentary.
Derrick Sound has also appeared in Jah Mason’s wider recording activity, including dubplate releases documented through reggae music outlets. Dubplates have a particular role in sound-system culture, where exclusive recordings and customised versions help establish a sound’s identity and relationship with its audience.
The collaboration connects Jah Mason’s established Jamaican reggae background with the sound-system environment associated with Derrick Sound. For listeners following his later releases and dubplate work, it represents another entry in a catalogue that continues to circulate through specialist reggae networks as well as digital services.
